Is AVG as good as Avast?

I've always used Avast free antivirus but lately its been giving me problems so I plan on changing to AVG...so my 3 main concerns are these: does AVG have a boot time scan option? does AVG have real-time protection? and is AVGs detection rate as good or better than Avasts?
