Is the precipitation at the equator low or high?

Equatorial regions tend to have higher precipitation amounts due to the persistent convergence of low level winds from further away over the northern and southern hemispheres. Maybe you have heard of the Inter-tropical Convergence Zone, or ITCZ. Since the winds are converging and rising equatorial regions tend to low pressure while at the poles the air pressure is high due to the colder and denser air in those areas.
