Good science books to read?

hello, i've been searching the internet as to which books i can find involving science. I'm looking for like a comprehensive book that gives lovely information, like encyclopedias. Also stuff that includes an everyday theme. Specifically, i'm looking for either biology or chemistry books thanks. Ones that will ultimately arm me with a good general knowledge aswell as comprehensive facts and fascinating information.
