Fable II Fairfax Castle Bed a one-use only?

After getting Fairfax castle and sleeping in the bed, my character lost all of his scars, but when I was later knocked out in the Brightwood Tower quest casting a level 5 spell, I got at least 3 incredibly bright, blatant, long gashes on the cheek and a couple just as noticeable cuts around my nose and eyebrows. But when I sleep in Castle Fairfax, even after about 22 days and 12 hours (testing every sleep time and sleeping for 7 days each 3 times) of resting, the scars get no better, and be it placebo affect or otherwise, they seem to be getting only MORE noticeable. I've tried sleeping at other places then sleeping in Fairfax Castle again, I've tried changing a couple of outfits (as I noticed that until I did Brightwood again my Spire outfit made my character look really old), nothing seems to work. I also already completed the Fairfax quest, if that makes a difference, though it shouldn't, I doubt deciding not to have a change should have any affect on my Hero's scar loss.
